Bird box cameras are a fantastic way to observe garden birds, providing an up-close and personal view of these fascinating creatures. However, installing multiple bird box cameras can quickly become a complex and messy endeavor, especially if you have a large garden or multiple bird boxes. This is where a UTP splitter comes in handy, allowing you to install multiple wired bird box cameras via a single cable.

So, why would you want to install multiple bird box cameras in the first place? Well, having multiple cameras allows you to capture different angles and perspectives of the birds in your garden, providing a more comprehensive view of the bird activities. A UTP (Unshielded Twisted Pair) cable splitter has one input port and multiple output ports which can be used to connect multiple wired bird box cameras using just one cable, eliminating the need to run separate cables for each camera. The UTP splitter works by extracting power from a PoE injector and delivering it to the connected PoE devices. It separates the signals into multiple outputs, ensuring that both the cameras and the splitter receive the necessary power to operate, without compromising on network performance.

Step 1: Choose the right UTP cable splitter

Before you begin, make sure to choose a UTP cable splitter that meets your needs. Look for a splitter that has the appropriate number of output ports for the number of bird box cameras you plan to connect.

This UTP splitter has one PoE input port and 4 PoE output ports which allow you to connect up to four wired bird box cameras using a single Ethernet cable. With a PoE range of 100 meters, you can place the cameras anywhere in your garden and still get a clear view. With an IP65 rating, it can withstand various weather conditions, such as rain, snow and extreme temperature ranges. Moreover, the UTP splitter also comes with a 30W PoE injector to transmit power and data simultaneously to the cameras.

Step 2: Prepare the necessary equipment
