How to Watch Birds Live on a WiFi NVR

Birdwatching is a beloved pastime for many nature enthusiasts. Whether you’re a seasoned birder or just getting started, there are countless innovative ways to enhance your birdwatching experience, and one of them is to install a WiFi bird box camera to capture and share rare bird sightings with fellow birders. It allows you to stream live videos from a bird feeder or birdbath directly to your smartphone and tablet, so you can keep an eye on your backyard birds in real time, no matter where you are.

However, for senior birders who are not that tech-savvy, they’re looking for a way to birdwatch without complicated apps or software configuration. Now, birdwatching has been made much easier with the introduction of a WiFi NVR.

Whats a WiFi NVR?

A WiFi NVR is a device that allows you to remotely view and record video footage from your WiFi bird box camera. You can watch birds nesting and feeding in real time on a 10” LCD monitor without the need for an Internet connection, so there will be no interruptions or lag time. It offers high-definition video quality, so you can observe birds with clarity and detail. The WiFi NVR can connect multiple cameras at a time, so you view them all or choose one that interests you most.

One of the benefits of using the WiFi NVR is the ability to record and save video footage of your feathered visitors. It supports 512GB MicroSD card storage, and you can even store the videos on a 1TB hard drive and export it with a thumb drive. This is especially useful for identifying and documenting rare or elusive bird species. You can easily review past recordings of any interesting birds that you may have missed while watching live.

How to Install the WiFi NVR?

The WiFi NVR is easy to set up with a plug-and-play installation. Simply pair your WiFi bird box camera with the NVR, and you’ll have the camera up and running in no time. Here are some steps to help you set up your system:

1.Install the WiFi Bird Box Camera

First, you will need to set up your WiFi bird box camera in a location where you frequently see birds visiting, such as a birdhouse in your backyard or a window with a bird feeder. Once the camera is set up, plug it into a power source. It’s compatible with DC12V, rechargeable batteries or solar power.

2.Install the WiFi NVR

Position your WiFi NVR in a location where you have easy access, connect it to a power source and connect a USB mouse to it. If you need to record the videos, insert the SD card or the hard drive disk into the WiFi NVR before it’s powered on.

3.Pair Your Camera with WiFi NVR

Next, you’ll need to connect the WiFi bird box camera to the WiFi NVR. Press and hold the camera’s reset button for 15 seconds, and you’ll hear the camera making click sounds, which means it’s ready for connection.

Go back to the WiFi NVR, right-click the USB mouse to access the menu and select “Channel Set”. In the next window, click “Quick Pair” to search for and pair with the camera. Once the camera is successfully paired with the NVR, you can add it to your device list. Select the camera from the list of available devices and click the “+” icon to complete the setup process.

4.Enjoy Birdwatching

Finally, return to the main menu of the NVR to view live feeds from your bird box camera and playback recorded footage. You can set up motion detection alerts to notify you when birds are present, adjust the camera settings to optimize the image quality, and configure the display modes to decide whether to watch one or all the cameras at the same time.

Can I connect the WiFi NVR to the network?

The answer is absolutely yes! You can connect the WiFi NVR to your router using an Ethernet cable or a wireless network card to stream the videos online. By doing so, you can watch garden birds simultaneously on your mobile and WiFi NVR. All you need is to download our official Green Backyard app on your phone, click the “+” icon to add the device, select “DVR/NVR” and scan the QR code (serial number) displayed on the WiFi NVR. The system will be up and running in just a minute.

Can I watch birds on a larger screen?

For those who are looking for a more immersive birdwatching experience, you can simply connect the WiFi NVR to your TV using an HDMI cable to watch birds on a larger screen. But there’s something you should notice: when you connect the NVR to the TV, it may result in a temporary loss of signal, leading to a black screen, as the images are transmitted to the TV. Unplug the HDMI cable, and you can restore it.
