Q: Is this camera waterproof / weather proof?

A: Nearly all of our bird box cameras are waterproof, except Wireless Bird Box Camera (# 4901-18) and IP Bird Box camera (#4901), which need extra protection in outdoor deployment. Our newest outdoor bird box cameras (launched in Oct. 2021) are specially designed for outdoor use. Housed in a watertight casing rated IP66, they can survive all imaginable weather conditions and eliminate water ingress to the greatest extent.

Q: What’s the difference between your wireless & wired cameras?

A: The difference between our wireless and WiFi cameras lies in how they communicate and transmit the data, not how a camera is powered since all cameras need some sort of power supply. The wireless cameras can directly stream the video to your router over WiFi, which allows you to watching nesting birds on your smartphone, tablet and PC, while the wired cameras often transmit the data through a network/coaxial/HDMI cable.

Q: Can the camera also record videos on the SD card?

A: Only if it has a MicroSD card slot. But for those don’t support on-board recording, you can also manually record the videos to the app or use the PC software. For the TV bird box camera, you can record the footage with a DVR.

Q: Does your bird box cameras provide color image?

A: Yes, you can view or record color image during the daytime with our bird box cameras. While at low light condition, the invisible night vision LED will switch on, and provides black-and-white images. If the bird box is too dark for getting color image at daytime, you can try to make a hole on the side panel of your birdhouse or choose our birdhouse directly.

Q: does the camera have night vision?

A: Yes, all our bird box cameras and wildlife trail camera feature invisible night vision, using no-glow infrared LEDs to light up the shooting area in low-light conditions and at night without spooking the birds/animals. The infrared LEDs will simultaneously switch on when the natural light fades out, and they can also be turned on/off via the app.

Q: Can I watch this bird box camera on a smartphone or tablet?

A: Depending on what type of camera you have. If it’s an IP-based camera in which the video/audio signals can be transmitted via the Ethernet cable or over WiFi, then you can watch live/recorded directly on your smartphone, tablet and PC using the iCSee app or PC software. If it’s an analog or HDMI camera, then you can only watch live feeds on your TV or other HDMI monitors.

Q: Can I stream the videos to YouTube?

A: No, you can’t directly live stream the camera to YouTube. The workaround is you can use the OBS Studio to stream the live feeds to YouTube.

Q:How can I upload the video from my bird box camera to Youtube?

A:After you save the live to app of your mobile phone, you still need one step to copy the video files from our App to your mobile phone’s memory space. Then you can upload to the Youtube or post to instagram directly. The recording files is .mp4 format which is ready for social media sharing.

Q: Can the live video also be viewed outside of your own WiFi home network?

A: Yes. You can view the camera live streaming from anywhere around the world as long as you add your camera to your home WiFi network which has internet access.

Q:Can my friends watch my bird box camera using their mobile phone?

A:Your friends just need to install same free app. You will have to send them the QR code with the password of your bird box camera. Then your friends can watch the bird box camera on their mobile phone. The bird box camera supports max. 5 users online connecting at the same time.

Q:How can I record the video from bird box camera?

A:You can simple press the record button on the app, the live stream from bird box camera will be saved to your mobile phone. If you want long term recording the bird box camera, you need to install our free PC software, and record to any of your PC computer or laptop. The wifi bird box camera supports 128G TF memory card, you can simple insert TF memory card which is the same one you use on your mobile phone, the video will be saved to the TF memory card.

Q:Do I need to remove the TF memory card from my bird box camera to view the video?

A:No, you never need to remove the TF memory card from your bird box camera for viewing the video. The free app or our PC software allows you directly view and download the recording video on the TF memory card.

Q: Is this a 12v camera?

A: Yes, all of our bird box cameras work with a rather low voltage of 12V. Anything above this threshold-12V will cause a short-circuit or electrical shock.

Q: Can it be powered by a rechargeable battery?

A: Yes, our bird box cameras can work with a 12V rechargeable/motorcycle battery, such as Lead Acid Motorcycle battery, Nickle Cadmium Motorcycle battery and Lithium Lon Motorcycle battery. But they are only compatible with batteries that have a maximum voltage of 12V. Beware anything above this threshold-12V will cause a short-circuit or electrical shock.

Q:Do I need power for the wifi bird box camera?

A:Yes, you always need the power for any bird box camera, no matter wifi or wireless bird box camera. We don’t recommend you use the battery solution, change the battery could force the bird leave the bird box. It is illegal to tap the bird box if there’s bird inside in UK. The WIFI bird box camera eliminates wiring the cable back to your home network. You can get DC12V power outside such as the backyard.

Q:How do I know the wifi coverage is good enough for your wifi bird box camera?

A:Bring your mobile phone to the wifi bird box camera installation position, check the signal strength, if the wifi signal always stay good rather than poor, it is ready for wifi bird box camera, otherwise, you may need to relocate your wifi router or add an wifi extender to boost up the signal around the bird box camera.

Q:How do I setup my bird box camera for mobile phone?

A:You simply just need to install our free app, scan the QR code on the box. Your bird box camera is ready to go. The app has eliminated the network setting on your router. It can locate your bird box camera with the cloud ID in the internet.

Q: How do I put a camera in a bird box?

A: Our camera kit includes everything you need to install the camera. Drill a hole in the birdhouse and use the included bracket and screws to fix the camera. Please note extra protection is needed if you’re installing a non-waterproof camera.

Q: How do you get it to focus better?

A: Simply rotate the lens clockwise or counter-clockwise to adjust the focus.

Q:My camera is warming up, is this bad?

A: It’s very normal if the camera warms up in operation. Rest assured that this won’t cause any danger.

Q: If a bird bites the camera, there is a danger of electric shock?

A: There should be no danger of electric shock. The camera is nearly risk-free working under low voltage-12V.

Q:Do I have to take the camera out of the nest box when not in use ?

A: If the camera is not in use for a long time, you’d better remove it and keep it in a dry place. And in winter, the camera must be left switched on in the birdhouse or the inner components might get frozen.

A:Yes, we have power plug for Europe, USA, UK and Australia. We ship the camera with power plug basing on your country.
